Same here. Without the cabinet I don't have a good way to test them. I don't think playing them without being attached to a baffle board gives a good representation of the sound.Mark wrote:I haven't heard much about Musicman speakers, have you tried them in an amp yet and what would you compare them to?

Re: Manzamp!
I thought you might have attached them to the undersized cab and had a listen to them?
Just thinking out loud here whilst looking at his version of a Bassman, I wonder why HAD never looked into Vox and Marshall amps, I thought that would have been part of the course for him. He has taken a unique path and his amplifiers certainly reflect that.

Re: Manzamp!
I wound up putting a nice little 5e3 Build in that cabinet with 4 different speakers.Mark wrote:I thought you might have attached them to the undersized cab and had a listen to them?
I did side-by-side the Manzamp and 5e3 through the cabinet with 4 little ceramic Jensens.
My impression at the time was the 5e3 sounds best BEFORE it is cranked into fuzzy distortion. So it seems to have a very small range of the volume control for that sweet sound.
The Manzamp gives a larger range of the volume control that produce that sweet singing pre-breakup sound. And it does it at a louder volume.

I believe Taylor is currently working on the cabinet. Hope to have it soon to test it out with the speakers.Mark wrote:Any more progress or clips of the amp?

Re: Manzamp!
Manzamp Cabinet version II should arrive at my workshop soon. We are pretty sure we got the size correct on this one. Of course we don't know what the front looked like so this is our interpretation. I really like Taylors use of the 3-screw corners like found on other Dumble cabinets.

That cab looks fantastic!
And will even look better if you decide to age it.

Re: Manzamp!
Depends on what sort of ageing. I've seen a Bassman that was a beautiful colour but I don't go in for torn tweed/tolex.

Re: Manzamp!
Getting close to actually hearing those speakers. I still need to make a speaker wire harness.
