Hmm, my tele knockoff is also less tolerant. Am curious now to check the output impedance of the tele vs. strat.

Hmm... my Tele is definitely more tolerant than anything else I own. Don't know anything about their impedances, but I can tell you that: (1) My Tele (thanks, Bill Morgan!) has Fender vintage noiseless (I know, but the guitar sounds great), a .047uF tone cap, 250K pots and the tone control has an open circuit at "10"; (2) The Strat (EC model without its original guts) has a set of Kinmans (thanks, again, Bill Morgan!) and they may well be the best set of noiseless Strat pickups I have hear heard, .047uF tone cap, 250K pots and the tone control also has an open circuit at "10."
