Thanks Ryan & Erwin just got my chassis and boards they look great the chassis feels solid. I have some questions: 1. By the pics in this thread it looks like 1watt carbon film resistors were used is it okay to use 1/2watt in those places where 1watt were used? 2. Are the front slide switches on-on?
Hey Abe - The slide switches are indeed on-on. I found them on eBay and are AllParts brand. Search "Red Jazzmaster slide switch" and you'll find it. https://www.ebay.com/p/728543806
1/2w should be ok. I believe the original amp was 1/2w and possibly 3/4w Piher. Just make sure to check voltage ratings are 350v+

We did some demos with the PCB SSS #002 build. The inductor being used here is the MesaBoogie alternative. I think EVM12L style speaker is a fantastic choice with this amp. We are using a 2x WGS12L in a Bassman cab. I'm not an expert in mixing like some of the guys here, but I think it's pretty representative of what we heard in the room. I mixed the stereo mics on my phone on the tripod, with a direct recording through a Boss WAZA Tube Amp Expander with a 2x12 open back Celestion G12-65H impulse response. Apologies in advance for the demos to be heavy on the Mayer side of things.
I've just received my chassis (and PCBs) in EU from Erwin and this thing is incredible - super thick material, solid and finished to a high standard. Great work Erwin and Ryan!
I'm putting together a new photo album with the PCBs and "production" chassis as I build the next one . https://photos.app.goo.gl/xcQvSKDTdF8F3knAA
I also included the layout for the Ayan Enterprise Smooth & Slim which I like to use with the SSS to take a wee bit of that top-end down a notch. It's equivalent to setting your tone pot on your guitar to about a 7 out of 10.

Here is my Ryan & Erwin SSS #002 build, thanks guys for doing all of the heavy lifting. This build feels like it took forever to complete, way longer than an ODS build.

Nice Abe! Looks like a neat build. What happened to the PS filterboard?

Thanks guys! Ya I can't imagine doing a build where you have to drill every single hole, I only got into the D game when people were selling chassis and board sets. I can't even get holes in a pedal build to line up. I still have the PS board I just opted for the brown material because I had some left over from a 183 build and I figured if I ever have to do a cap job in the future I can just drop in the green PS board that came with the set.
I thought I read that #002 had a three tube reverb is that true? And are both preamp tubes 6 and 7 part of the cathodyne phase inverter or just preamp tube 7?
