New ODS chassis from Thailand

Back around 2003/04 if you wanted to build an ODS that cosmetically looked like an original the Thai chassis were the only option.This was way before Brandon or CE and anyone else on the forum was offering a replica chassis. I know quite a few builders at the time didn't like the illegal trademark on the amp. There were several here who would create their own badges to cover the name.It's funny that after I built my first replica on the Thai chassis i played that amp out every weekend for several years and cannot remember 1 person at any gig ask me if that was a real Dumble ODS?. I even put the amp in a music store where I teach for several weeks for anyone who wanted to check it out and not 1 person knew what a Dumble amp was. As a kind of joke I took the amp into a local Guitar Center and showed them the amp and the guy's who worked there didn't recognized it or say wow is that a Dumble? I still have that amp.

We are in our own little Dumble world.

indeed I think the internet has changed that though in the last 15 years. If you did the same now it would be a different story.

As a quick side here to your post..Perhaps the Guitar Center incident would be different. My Music store was last year and although I don't gig as much now however the past 2 years I was giggin just twice every weekend and used the amp fairly regular still nothing
I left VVT Amps in 2011 and although we did build a version of an ODS still very few players even heard of Dumble. That might be different now.

I definitely think it is different now, there are tons of videos by guitar heads on youtube now about how to get the dumble tone, there are plenty of groups dedicated to dumble tones. There was a woman playing guitar on facebook with her self built clone that was great, here's one, not sure if it's sharable here, but I dig her playing style etc. She shares pretty regularly and that group alone has 6.4 members.

I think the internet makes most 'rare' things much more known.
