I liked the 15" too!
Where do you buy your EV speakers? It's a bit hard to find on the web.
What type of 12" EV speaker would you recommend? Are there several 15" speakers to choose between?

Hi,
I bought my EVM 15L and EVM 12L speakers from other musicians or PA companies who stopped using them.
There are different power ratings for these speakers...I have two different EVM 15L speakers and the sound different but both great. The physical heaviest speaker (highest power rating??) is the best IMO but not everybody agrees with me on this one... I'd say try for yourself...Good luck!
For the UL config.. I like this for amps without NFB or very little NFB.
I understood from the ampage a while ago that UL is some form of feedback and adding global NFB can be too much. This also explains why the UL output stage is less bright than a non-UL stage...after removing the global NFB from my UL amp I was alot happier the amp. For me, it was just one of those things I didnt expect and it took me some time to figure out.
BTW, I also love this site and the rest of the articles: http://www.webace.com.au/~electron/tubes/ul.html

Re: Speaker test clip / another clip added
Are those speakers general PA speakers, or are they designed for guitar amp use only?

These are bass speakers, the EVM15. The EVM12 is bass or guitar.Tdale wrote:Are those speakers general PA speakers, or are they designed for guitar amp use only?

Re: Speaker test clip / another clip added
I learned from the EV brochure that the EVM 15L is the Lead speaker and the EVM15B is the Bass speaker. They are presented as a n upgrade indtrument speaker. A problem nowadays in my area (Netherlands) is that a lot of the EVM 15L speakers have been reconed to EVM 15B specs....
Try to find an old EVM brochure and you'll see the difference between the cones in the pics...
If you can't find one, PM me...
Good luck,
Jelle

Greetings,
Electro-voice discontinued EVM 12L units, but it seems that they re-introduced that model this year -- http://electro-voice.com/pressreleases/487.html -- and it is sold on this place (observe that it is NOT Zak Wilde model):
http://www.zzounds.com/cat--Electro-Voi ... kers--3045
(the particular model is here: http://www.zzounds.com/item--ELVEVM12LCLSC)
I think I am going to get me one of those puppies, when I build this Dumble amp, with some luck ...
All the best,
Sven
