It was the only time I have ever seen RF live, but they sounded fantastic that night.

Robben played his 1960 Telecaster and his 68 Les Paul Deluxe with mini humbuckers.
"The mini humbuckers have that brightness that I like, not so thick like the full humbucking pickups."

Robben is playing some dates on the West Coast for the next week or two with David Grissom sitting in. Guitar-a-plenty!

I'm going to see him tonight at Yoshi's in Oakland--Sushi and kick ass music!

He's playing next Saturday at City Winery in Napa--I could walk to that show.

That's great that he plays local still.

This is positive fallout for live music fans from the disassembling of the music industry as we have known it.
Artists don't make much from cd sales, so a circuit of 250-500 seat venues has developed that hosts the tours of artists who won't sell out a major venue.
Usually nice places, good sound, no smoking, talk to the artist post show.
It's a win for us.

My wife and I have tickets for the June 10th show in Carpinteria, California, where we live. Funky small play house, with good acoustics, that holds 250 or so. Robben lives about 25 miles from here in Ojai. So cool of him to play the small home town venues now and again. Class act. Looking forward to it.

I cought the early show at Yoshi's last night. It was amazing. Great venue and David Grissom was as every bit as good as Robben... I may still try to see him in Napa next week.
