A quick Follow-up:
As said, the amp was too bright using that 4x12 at rehearsals (sporting V30s), with the 1x12 EV12L the amp sounds fine.
So one thing is to get other speakers for the 4x12.
Then I checked the amp again and found that I indeed had installed a 180k series resistor, so the brightness must come from someplace else.
Using a Dumbleator with extra long cables to the Dumbleator (couple of feet) reduced the brightness some, but then the Clean would be to dull. Hmmmm
One other thing: when blasting away at high volumes, the OD gets farty. I still have the 0.1 uF PI coupling caps, so I might need to change that since I went from 0.01 uF PI input to 0.02uF PI input as per the schemo. Or I might go back to 0.01uF PI input.
Again somehow me thinks that my 100W HRM serves me better in a band situation (btw. I modded the OD input circuit to 470k/470pF to 220k to 100k trimmer to 68k grid. That amp really delivers the goods for a Rock-Trio.
Still trying to get the 183 with 6L6 right.
Cheers,
Electron

I'd change the grid caps to .05uf. Leave the .02uf PI cap.
Maybe since you are using 6L6 tubes, try snubbers on the V2 tube. Start with 250pf and work up.
Personally, I think the circuit sounds great with EL34 tubes. Maybe give them a shot, even though you have 6L6 trannies.
