This might be very dumb but:

I thought part of the reason to use a dumbleator or a Kleinulator was to alter the sound a bit. The idea behind it is not to be transparant but to add some tonal change as well as solving the fx issue.
If the Kleinulator is used parrallel you'd loose part of the functionality right?

Is this mod worth while?
Mainly because I was trying to pay homage to Big Dude's design. Also, I don't really care for parallel setups. Designer's preference, I suppose. :)

parallel

Would you expand on that statement. Don't care for parallel. Why is that?

Could someone tell me what type of capacitors (nf and pf) is used in the kleinulator? brand? voltage? type? any specific mouser part number??
I would appreciate it. I guess these are the same type used in pedals I guess?

I don't know what Mark uses in his but the Ceriatone Kleinulator has silver micas for pf and orange drops of some kind for the other signal caps. Check out this gutshot: [img:600:450]http://www.ceriatone.com/images/complet ... or/b2B.jpg[/img]

Its Mike, BTW. ;) I've been called worse names than Mark, though.

I've experimented with many different components, and here's what I like best:

- low ESR electrolytic caps (Xicon or Nichicon)
- Mallory ceramic disk caps (pF range)
- AVX and 225P polyester film caps
- 1/4W 1% metal film resistors or 1W 5% carbon film resistors

Nik used parts he already had on hand for his version. The orange drops in the picture are Mallory PVC 100V.

It seems redundant IMVHO. Most FX units have a suitable mix in them. I made the assumption that the player's FX units have a decent blend on them and would not miss a parallel option.

I think what some players don't realize, is even a paralleled "dry" tone is still effected (and therefore colored) by the circuitry that makes the blend control work.

Really, I don't have anything against parallel loops, its just not how I like to roll. Therefore, its not how I like to design. I rarely use effects anymore, and the ones that I like to use in the loop of an amp are just delay and reverb. The delay I built has a very nice dry tone, as do many that are on the market anymore. Reverb is a whole different story, as I'm still searching for the right product. I have little interest in trying to build one, and the ones I've bought all sucked significant ass. Funk did say the T-Rex Room-Mate is a winner, though.... Too bad its almost $400. No matter how much gear I sell, my wife still says "no".

I would normally agree but a standard Holy Grail sounds pretty convincing if its used with a Dumbleator, if your expectations are just to duplicate tank reverb. Hard to tell it's not a tank.

Come to think of it, I've never tried a Holy Grail with a Dumble-ator. I've had 3 Holy Grails in the past (I have a love/hate relationship with them), but I might have to try #4.

Have you tried the new Holy Grail Plus?

Thanks for the tip!

Haven't tried the + model - I was attracted to the standard one because it only had 1 knob which is all some players can understand when it comes to reverb.

Were an Electro Harmonix dealer and have sold quite a few.. A lot of people love those units and not bad for what 100 bucks.. Personally I hate em.. no doubt a love hate thing.. Tube style sewer spring reverb in an amp with Overdrive sounds like ass to me to begin with.. so an electronic device that models it Yuck!!... I picked up an Lexicon LXP 15 off Ebay for 200 bucks.. Not a TC Electronics or an Evintide.. But does the job nicely and sounds way more natural to me than any Alesis product Ive tried.. JMHO!! Love to try a Klein ulator sounds like a great loop!!

But did you try it with a Dumbleator? Spring reverb can sound good with the OD - listen to the full time od clips from this thread:
