I love it, Scott!!! (Of course you know already that I prefer a bit more agressive tone.
) But seriously, I think the brassy tone gives your playing a much more dynamic feel. Tres cool!

Well Scott, I'll have to disagree with Michael on this one. I do like the tone, and is that the Baker?? You really should throw more double stops into your playing like you did here. I like music that rocks, you know? With drive. This is one of your very best clips in the last couple of years.

Shut up and play that geetar....
Oh man...really couldn't give a rats about the tone ( sh*t hot I thought, I love it)
the playing is just divine. Liked all your clips so far, but this just cooks beyond belief.
What guitar? Pickups? Volume level (room)? I'm floored!!!

Well if thats not the way to get in the last word I don't know what is.
Seriously one of the coolest wranglings of tone/chops/attitude that I've heard in a long time.
80s circuit ? sounds killer!

Honestly man, it's almost impossible to evaluate your tone when you play like that - it's more than one brain can handle.

For comparison, here is 90s voice w/1265 open back and SM57.

Here is a Zendrive test take. A bit dark but the solo was good.

Thanks again for the really nice comments on the playing. At the end of the day, I am just a player.

Agree on the Zen solo. Liked the playing, the tone sounded smaller somehow. It was still in the ballpark, but didn't sound/feel like an amp.
How about a Bluesmaster take?

Hi Mike,
The 90s voice take was Bluesmaster hybrid. BM PI, boost on, and modified boost circuit-but not the secret mega boost. Not exact BM preamp but also not exact Skyline HRM.
Here is another Royer BM take http://www.scottlernermusic.com/2007/Ch ... erTest.mp3

I just did this new take using the Fuchs. I tweaked a couple of things to open the tone.

Hot damn, Scott! The playing in these clips had me shaking my booty so much that I forgot this is about tone! Amazing playing. This is some of the best of yours I've heard in a while. There's a playfulness in it that is just a joy to listen to. I'm inspired!
BTW, these tones are knocking me out, particularly the first and most recent clips. They're both really balanced across the spectrum, and the gain is just delicious. I love the clips of yours where you're not afraid to turn the gain up! Fantastic work!

What is the B+1 on this one?
Do You hear much difference say from 420V to 490V and how does it affect to the feel of the amp?
Superb playing
Thanks,
mat
Re: How about some playing and not bickering?
Once you get past the fantastic playing and filter out the mic differences (imagine you are in the room with the amps) I'm guessing that the "90's voice" probably is the most impressive especially on fatness of high notes.
Scott - which is your pick for "Best sound in the room"? Or even more important "Best amp at the gig"?
I recently modded a great sounding on stage non-HRM amp to smaller coupling cap values(.02 on CL2 and .02 PI output caps) and thought it sounded a lot better. Then I heard it on stage again after the tweaking. The tweaks are coming back out. That is the most challenging part about tweaking - bench VS stage.
The live on stage sound is probably the most important test unless the amp lives in the studio.
