Seek immediate medical attention if you suddenly go either deaf or blind.
If you put the Federal Government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years time there would be a shortage of sand.

Thanks everyone for the comments
I really dig the amp now. I played it 5 hours yesterday
It was very hard to stop but kids have to eat also
I tried the Sovtek 6L6s but they were not as nice sounding as the KT77's in my amp. The top end was too squashed.
I have now the celestion heritage 1265 plus electro harmonix 10'' in parallel on my combo cab and I like the result very much
I really dig the clips of Your amps. Let me see what it would cost if You send the amps from USA to Finland...... lets forget it
Next project: Fender style all tube reverb and tremolo
kleinm: I built THE kleinulator and will test it on saturday at band reherseals. I have few photos also. Will get back to you
EDIT: a really quick/first take/sloppy played clean clip: http://media.putfile.com/nynne-tuloo

Mat,
Your persistence has obviously paid off and is an inspiration to me and others, I am sure. What tone!

Yeah Buddy! Such a clean tone is well deserved for your relaxed and harmonically rich riffage. I gotta go practice something more effective when I play
... Post us some more of that rig's tonal pallette when you find the time. This is what I need to strive for in my HRM build!!

Wow. You've come a long way lyrically in the last couple of years too. Man! I love that piece. Who's your rhythm player? Just kidding. Wow!

Thanks Tonegeek. Tip for the other beginners like me is to route the OD+masters wires far from the tone section wiresTonegeek wrote:Mat,

Btw. Im putting another 5uF behind a switch to the V1b cathode to check if that'll sound cool.
Noel, the clip was the first take (was hurrying to work) and I was making the song while playingYeah Buddy! Such a clean tone is well deserved for your relaxed and harmonically rich riffage. Thanks skyboltone, Yes my rhythm player has as 'good' timing as I doWow. You've come a long way lyrically in the last couple of years too. Man! I love that piece. Who's your rhythm player? Just kidding. Wow!
FWIW no processing on the clip, just the Alesis on the built in Dumbleator.

Just curious, what tonestack values are you using?
Re: the return of the HRM (clean clip added)
The tone stack values are as in: http://bad-domain/97HRM/97_ODS_HRM_Loop.JPGTimS wrote:Just curious, what tonestack values are you using?

Hey mat - your OD soundclip at the beginning of this thread
and
Hey skyboltone - your Clean soundclip a few posts above
are some of the nicest dumble-ish sounds I've ever heard
I'd be curious to hear, what guitars & speakers you were using on this recordings!
skyboltone, was the 'background guitar' on your Clean clip a ES335?

I guess my recipe was a good one. Glad to have you validate it!

Yes, that's good wire, but 20Pf? Really??? I measured more like 35 with my cheepy meter. Either way that's a decent wire, easy to work with and sounds good.skyboltone wrote:http://apexjr.com/wire.html#Available
RG-178. same stuff basically. I've measured it at 20pf/foot

Re: the return of the HRM (clean clip added)
Yup. But mine's a cheepy meter too. I am currently trying to set up a decent shop in a storage container (ever try building amps in an engine room?) so I'm a bit at a disadvantage to double check right now. I will tell you this though, I found about 10' of another miniature type yesterday in the "weird wire" container that I measured at just over 10pf per foot. Plenum rated too so it'll solder well. I'm gonna get the number off of it and post it here. Maybe we can get some more. I hate to invest in another meter right now but it does measure all my puff caps under "face" value.Bob-I wrote:Yes, that's good wire, but 20Pf? Really???
