Re: SEBAGO SSS CLIPS OF PROTOTYPE
I ordered my Sebago SSS back in April. I'm about 5 weeks into the wait, and it's becoming unbearable.
Re: SEBAGO SSS CLIPS OF PROTOTYPE
Yes that is a long time to wait but I bet it will be worth the wait when you hear it for the first time.

That's what's helping me through. I'm just imagining myself playing it. (plus side is I'm a much better player in my imagination)M Fowler wrote:Yes that is a long time to wait but I bet it will be worth the wait when you hear it for the first time.![]()

stadium volumes
I bought a 150 watt amp took a chance on that circuit and its the one ive been after.
I own the ODSR with the improved verb and built in D lator
and the SSS amp does not have D lator at all and still sounds great but I want to be able to crank the SSS amp up and turn down the D lator.
I must wait to know the difference so ill know more after D lator is made for SSS amp.
My amps have been down with no efx for weeks and its starting to get to me so tomorrow or the following day
we push to finish the rack so I can test these efx and start to get to experience some of the cake I wanted to try.
I dont bother starting to write down settings because its not wired yet and I dont want to be frustrated or thinking about it till I can make it so.
I think the SSS amp might need 1/2 a D lator vs whole but
not sure on that.. I want one to try it anyway and turn the return down.
Because even at 4 or 5 the amp opens up and becomes more alive and you gotta push it to get there you cant do that at whisper volumes without a D lator.
So I went for the 2nd D lator and we shall see what is.
The rack idea is great it involves more cable and ends then I had on hand but those are here now.
So we should be able to finalize things now.
Hopefully sooner then later..
Everything was redone with all new cable and ends that got costly at 1000mph.
Had to wait and buy the rest but such is life if you are wanting to have the cake and eat it too.
For the SSS amp I was after the Ej model specifically
there are many different type models of SSS im told.
Between #4 5 and #6 there are changes in sound which make each one #4,5 or 6 different amps from each other sound wise.
According to Greg everything past 5 is different then the earlier models...
Luckily I located the one I was after because I was after the Ej voicing and to my knowledge there was one amp being made that had that.
Besides Dumble that is.
The only way to quiet the hype is to buy one and find out.
Soon as I heard it I was real quiet because I had nothing else to say I knew I had the circuit id been chasing for 30 years..
I had to play it and tweak it to know though.
That was the expensive and long wait part of things..
It took 30 years to find out and hear one or play one.
So when I heard it I knew id made the correct choice at the time.
Several claim to make these but which one are they claiming to make considering there many style SSS amps some differing alot from one another.
Which one is the question ?
mayer Srv Ej ?
its like saying I want a marshall so I can sound like Jimi
ok which year Jimi ?
I for one was so desperate to try this circuit and sound
I almost bought the wrong amp..
It would not have been the one I was after.
Which was Ej....
This Haunted me for 30 years and I could not help but find out and Im glad I did because I am done buying amps and I Know what is hype and what is not.
It just took alot of time and money to find out.
Ive still got money out to find out about those other tones
which im hearing about.
Honestly I have never been so glad to have been so pacified
normally id be complaining oh it does not do this or that
or I should have known it was too much and im not pleased still with one thing or another but thats not the case.
I dont think I could wait 2 years or more for one but
after hearing and playing one I have to even second guess that because these circuits are alot of fun.
Dont let the 150 thing scare you off from buying and trying it
just get a D lator and you will be glad you did..
Come to think of it I waited 30 years so in essence I might not have made it 32 years...
I kept saying no too 1 year plus wait times and this amp just happened to pop up out of no where and the timing was really miraculous because id missed the other amp..
Id been working that amp for 4 months so chances of stumbling across this one were pretty stacked in favor of me
not getting one that day and I did.
Never Say Never.

Here are some pics of the Sebago SSS, sitting on a suede cab from Taylor. Ill be recording clips and posting a full review once I've had some more time with the amp. But I will say that it sounds glorious!
