David Root wrote:I didn't think so either. I'm not trying to duplicate #183, just use a proven circuit to build what Tony Albany told me would be a killer amp with all the Pihers in it. My '77 Marshall 2204 sounds killer and it's full of Pihers, so that was it! Of course I think the old Mullards help too.

Maybe we should organize a group buy from your Spanish source, to get to 150 Euros, that's about $220 I think.
I used the exact same resistors as HAD (Piher & Mepcos) in my 2nd gen build and it sounds good.

I only had one 1/2w value tagged as one that is normally seen in Dumbles. I was mainly interested in some odd values not normally seen.

Thank you Tony, another gem!

Jelle Welagen told me 47K on grids in older ODS's are wonderful, now I see why. V1B, V2A, V2B, all 47K grids. He didn't tell me they were Pihers though!

It has the Funky OD entrance too, can't miss that 1M2 resistor.

My grid values came from an amp that someone had on their bench.

Actually, I spoke about carbon comps when I mentioned the 47K's. FWIW, there's not a big difference between the 56K that were reported as the std value grid stopper and the 47K.

Tom at one time CE was selling your choice three or four preamp tube chassis.

Mark
On the latest build we got a few 4-preamp-hole chassis made. They are now laser-cut like the latest 3-hole ones. I have two left and a 'blemished' chassis that we'll sell for a discount. PM me if you want one.

We haven't really promoted the 4-hole too much since there aren't any 'standard' projects that use it.
