They are siblings, that's obvious. I don't know which one is the real deal, but #2 sounds a little muffled to me, with less high end and less picking sounds coming through on my "decent" computer speakers. The whole picture is not yet clear from this short clip, but I prefer #1.
Re: Which is the Dumble
I've listened to it about 5 times now on several different speaker systems. I finally decided, I don't care which one is the Dumble, they both sound great and very similar in character. There are subtle differences but I'm sure that once they're in the mix you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.
Great stuff

Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...

Re: Which is the Dumble
Number two sounds like it's got some type of filters or high cap coax rolling of the highs.
Re: Which is the Dumble
Throw a close mic on each and make a nice recording. They are far less similar than you think. The vid was a room recording with an iPhone I believe. That is more than half of what you hear. Close micing exposes the differences. Trust me, been doing this for years. What you hear in the room is much different than what is at the cone.
Having said that, they are both nice sounding amps. I still hear thickness in #2 that is more like 183. Unless Brad put the midboost on the TS1. No boosts on, I choose 183 as #2.

A $30k amp and a $300 Iphone, who said it was only rock-n-roll.
Re: Which is the Dumble
Agreed, but my use is for live performance so what is heard in the room is important.dogears wrote: What you hear in the room is much different than what is at the cone.

Mac Daddy,
because I assume that you did not just forget to label the files and now need our help to find out which one could be the Dumble file:
Why then do you ask this? Which increase in information do you hope for if in the end you should get as an example 34 x #1, 52 x #2, 8 x "none of them", 3 x "all of them" and 4 x "no idea" in response? Or did you just want to propose some entertaining and amusing riddle?
Cheers,
Max

#2
There's a flute like harmonic thing going on with #2.
Plus I think the dog in the background liked #2 also

Re: Which is the Dumble
Listening with head phones, #2 has more harsh fizz and #1 sounds smoother.erwin_ve wrote:I don't know which one is the dumble; I like #1 better
When do we get the answer?
Re: Which is the Dumble
Prefer 2 thru the living room stereo...
