Thanks Mike (aka Resistor Man)..Was thinking they have a Draloric look about them..:D Any ideas as to where to get these..

Thanks!!
If I had to guess again, bet they are close to the Q-lines (Draloric) HAD used.

Tony in the past I have ordered non-stock small special orders from Allied Electronics , but I don't think they do that anymore. My choice if I really wanted to chase these would to contact Farnell to see if they would do a small quanity special order. I would not even consider Mouser, I bet a min order would be 500 or 1000 of each value.

I bet TR gets them directly from the manufacturer.

Hi TM, did you find out what these are in the end? I cannot find anything in q-lines draloric on google

Hard to find all those old resistors unless you go ebay and usually the EU guys are selling them.

Just use those brown precision 1w Dale CF from Mouser on the plates and stock 1w CF on the other positions.

"Q line" was a house brand name used by Sprague for the rebranded electronic components that they sold ages ago. The tan carbon film " Q Line" resistors were actually made by Draloric, do a search for Draloric LCA.

My BOM which can differ from other people's build. I did not differ from the schematic I noted I went by in previous posts.

I did not indicate what brand of components because it is hard to duplicate exactly what Two Rock used.

Mark,

Do you think you would love this amp as much if it were a 50W build? I just get a really nice chassis from Taylor, and as of yet, it really doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up, but I'm thinking 50W - I've got a Fender Tone Master 100W head, and I am just getting too old to be lugging that thing around!

Cheers,

Lou,

Yes 50w and even 25w I think would make a great sounding amp.

I get asked to build lower wattage amps all the time because their gigging amps are miked and too loud without attenuators.

I plan to build a lower wattage 2Rok JM Signature Reverb but got other projects in the way.

Excellent! I think I've found my next build - well, that is after I finish my current build of the last two or so years... :-)

Thanks, Mark.

Great idea... even 50 watts is too much in an enclosed space. Lou, are you thinking two 6V6? Maybe JJs and keep the plates pretty high?

Mark, what reverb TX did you use? I'm thinking I have an impedance mismatch with my reverb TX or maybe just the tank. After seeing JM's settings, I think I need to revisit this... There is no way I could turn either reverb control up that high without excessive feedback.

Hi Tony,

Whew! Decisions, decisions.... I think this particular amp was designed to be a clean machine, which might ask for a pair of 6L6GC's or even KT-88's (possibly KT-66's). But I could also see a pair of 5881's or even a quad of 6V6GT's as contenders. The chassis I got from Taylor has five noval and four octal sockets. Rather than going with the tube reverb, I will likely use the Belton brick, and then put a tube-based active effects loop in it.

Cheers,

I used a Fender Twin Reverb transformer set but I used a short reverb pan so didn't have all that spring boing or swampy reverb.

Don't remember if I used Mojotone's Heyboer set or Magnetic Components set.
Didn't have a photos of the transformers either but I know I used Twin Reverb replacement reverb driver, choke, OT and PT.

I also had suggestions from Taylor Cox regarding the reverb circuit resistor changes but I used exactly the values noted on schematic and didn't change a thing. In the beginning I had wired the bass control wrong but corrected that and from there the amp sounded fantastic, my favorite so far for clean tones, nice bass response and reverb was so nice. It was sold soon after and we compared mine to the Ceriatone JM I have, we agreed mine is better to us.

I tried several other reverb pans 17" from Super Reverb and 17" from Twin Reverb but I liked the short pan 8AB2A1B

Are those Dale 0708J 100K plate load resistors NOS? Is it 1W or 1/2w?

Are the 22K and 2.2K on the power section xicon wire metal oxide? Would wire wound work there?

For the wirewound 470R 5W on the power tubes they are using xicon. Are Vishay 71-CW5-470 better?

Any reason why they used metal film for the 220k between pI and power tubes

1 - I think they are 1/2 watt...

2 - Yes they are metal oxide. Wirewound resistors are fine there if not better... The fact that they are coils of wire makes them act like inductors and theoretically would offer improved filtering.

3 - The Xicons are fine there, I don't know about the others. They are compact for 5w... fit across the socket nicely.

4 - Reason for those MF resistors in those positions... Precision values and they keep their value even when the amp warms up. Look at the old fender layouts... The Pi and a few other places are speced at 1%. This keeps the PI balance in check.

Thanks for the reply.

1) any clue where to find them selling

2) great! I had it as WW so will leave as is

3) I might change these to similar xicons

4) I had these on my to bulild amp as NOS piher cf 2W. Do you think it is worth revisiting it and potentially changing to mf?
