Some old clips and Normsters backing
I was digging through my archives and found this really tasty backing courtesy of Normster. The changes are the same as the famous tune Footprints (in other words, just a C minor jazz blues)
Here is the backing. http://www.scottlernermusic.com/backing ... ntsBTa.mp3
Here are two takes from last year using my Fender 75 chassis-Fuchs/Lerner mod. I was surprised by how much I dug the tone. Has a real sweet quality. The speaker is a Celestion G12-65. What do you guys think of the tone?

Show off
Excellent playing, great tone.

Re: Some old clips and Normsters backing
Nice sustain without being oversaturated, and a nice transistion from less to more saturated.
It might be the recording, but the attack does not have the snap of some of your other more recent recordings.
As usual, great chops with amazing ideas and tasteful choices.
I wish I could play like that! Maybe if I had a better sounding amp....

Thanks guys.... I was going through the Fuchs loop. Dampens the highs.... But still a nice tone!

Thanks for the clips,

Tasty!
Very nice transition from clean to dirty and back. Not as tight as some of your newer efforts, but very vocal and big.

Yup, that's the way I used to play before I hurt my hands.......hehehehehe.
Great stuff Scott and great tone. I've thrown my 715P caps in the bay. Time to order the right stuff.

It's been awhile since I've heard those clips. Your 75 has always sounded great to me. What it lacks in complexity it more than makes up for in sweetness.
Of course, you f'in guitar gods can make anything sound good.
Re: Some old clips and Normsters backing
I've never been able to play like that, I just don't hear the harmonic content the way that Scott does.skyboltone wrote:Yup, that's the way I used to play before I hurt my hands.......hehehehehe.
I've decided that the caps are not as critical as I used to think. I've used PS, 715's and the little blue xicons. Overall they all sound about the same. My best sounding amp now has a combination of all 3 types. More important is the plate load resistors and the pF range caps. These must be Vishay-Dale 1% metal film and ceramic.I've thrown my 715P caps in the bay. Time to order the right stuff.

Hi Scott,
Wow, that's sounds great! Hey, I have an 81 Fender 75 sitting in my garage collecting dust. How much effort would it take to turn it into a tone monster like yours?

Check out Normster's layout for the Bassman. My guess is that you could use that for the 75 also.
Fuchs' can do the conversion but it's pretty big bucks.
