I've done a number of re-tubes this year and have been pretty happy with tung-sol, as well as the customers. I'm becoming a bit of a fan.

GE Tall Bottle 6L6GC or Sylvania STR387 ($100 each) or Siemens EL34 (RFT) $150 per pair.

Pre amp tubes Siemens E83CC ($130) or Telefunken smooth plate 12ax7 $150) V1

Mullard 12ax7 V2 ($150)

GE Long Plate 12ax7 V3 ($80)
NOS preamp tubes can be pretty hit or miss in these amps. In in my experience (especially in Non HRM's)... Just because it has GE, Amphrex, Mullard, on it doesn't automatically deliver grail tone ..especially pull outs.
Also in OD V1 and V2 operate together so finding a pair that compliment each other is more important than each by themselves (if that makes any sense)...In general the higher gain/mu tubes like the JJ's reissue Mullards, (TAD High grade 7025'are a well tested balanced tube) and some of the Chinese brands seem to play well when paired (especially on the low end)...No evidence just my ears..
