Maybe a better solution would be to record the guitar in a neutral EQ format then re-amp the recording through the guitar amp with the various output transformers.

That way it would be the same clip but heard through the different OT's.

I don't even know if that is technically feasible.

It would be tempting for Mag Comp engineers to tweak the tone in a favorable manner to sell more trannys.

I still think the MM OT sounded muddy. :lol:
My experience is that you cannot judge between 'clips'- even the slightest level difference between them is enough to throw it out. not enough data. anyone w/ studio or live sound experience knows that moving a mic 1/4 " gives a new sound - especially at close range. a better bet would be to change transformers and play several gigs with each, and see what feels better to
a player in different situations. in the heat of battle is what makes or breaks it for me---

what they should have done is record a clip into a cheap boss cr20xl like I have- then run that into the amp.

Thats what I do.

Heck, I do that at gigs and then walk around the room and listen to mic placement thru the mains.
