Most useful switches

Post by caglej »

Hi guys,

Which switches do you find most useful? I'm deciding whether to even bother with the deep or Rock/Jazz switches. How do the mid-boost and boost switches sound? Any help would be appreciated before I begin drilling lots of holes in my chassis. :D

Keep the boost, and keep the deep switch.

The mid switch is nice to have.

I've never really liked the rock-jazz switch; I keep it on rock all the time.

What are the best values for the mid boost? Should I go with the Hybrid A or the HRM cap values?

I put the r/j and deep switch in mine and didnt use any others... they both really change the amp.. although my R/J switch is more like a preamp boost for some reason..

I spent quite a bit of time going through this.

1) Mid boost. I used 330pF on the treble cap and 500pF on the boost cap series with the treble cap, 4.7K between them to ground.

2) Boost

3) Deep for the clean side only, it gets farty with the ODS.

4) Bright using a 120pF

Jazz/Rock is a waste.

Thanks guys,

Is the resistor between the series caps in the hybrid A mid boost supposed to be 4.7M or 4.7k?

4.7M... it's only there to prevent popping when you switch.

Right now I have in my modded Deluxe Reverb II (non-HRM, Rev A values)

- Bright 120pf for clean side only
- Midboost 330p plus 820p for lead side only
- Deep for the clean side only

My modded Concert (also non-HRM but 70s values) is set up the same except for the Deep.

I am thinking about adding a preamp boost to both amps.
