Coyote 1x12 Conrtible Slant Cab

Post by doveman »

I recommend this Coyote conertible slant cab for anyone interested in the slant design - nice work, great value. Rob worked with me by sendinging without grill cloth and to specs matching my stock D'Lite 1x12 cab.
  • Got the matching grill cloth and piping
  • Settled for EVM12L in open back top & G1265 in sealed slant (tried both)
The pair may be growing on me ... but I haven't tried them at live volumes yet ... pair of EVM12L would be good though if not
  • The cab to the left is my sealed 2x10 Eminence 105 cab
  • Since all cabs are 8 ohms and my amp can be set for 4, 8 &16 ohm - I have a lot of choices

What do you think?

BTW the fridge in the background is required gear in our practice room ... it doesn't necessarity need a power amp but it helps! :D

I was wanting to try to use my extra G1265 ... just sitting in the box since I bought the EVM. Makes it a 2x12 vertical (sort of). But I'm not sure I like the mix yet. It's been growing on me a bit just playing at low volume. Haven't played it at live volumes yet.

But it gives me 9 different options with the 4-8-16 ohm D'Lite settings

At 8 ohm:
- EVM12L 1x12 (open back)
- G1265 1x12 (sealed but it's convertible too)
- Emi 105 2x10 (sealed)

At either 4 ohm parallel or 16 ohm series
- EVM12L & G1265
- EVM12L & Emi 105
- G1265 & Emi 105

But I think the vertical stack looks good.

Update:

I have another EVM12L reissue on the way for my "stack". Decided that the EVM12L/G1265 combo just doesn't mix well and like the EVM a bit better.

Will probably sell the G1265 ... great speaker though.

Best deal I've found anywhere else is $229 including freight ... so this is cheaper than the last one I bought. If you are getting a 16 ohm it's a steal at $150 but it's not free freight ... it did not appear.

I paid $194 from American Musical Supply.

Just checked, you're right $229, man when did they jump in price?

Yeah I need 16 ohm since I always use at least a 2x12.

Do a search on ebay for Coyote Cabs ... $185 buy now price ... but he'll work with you on specs. I paid a couple of extra bucks to get it to match my current D'Lite cab. 11x19 on top 14x19 on the bottom.

Rob was great about it. He made the grill frame and included the piping and I got the grill cloth myself to match the other cab. I think it turned out real nice and it's convertible from open to closed back.

Good quality ...

Coyote Cabs +1

Post by Xmentalpilot »

I bought a pair of 1X12 slants covered in blond (cream) tolex to match my FUCHS ODS50 head. Loaded one w/ EVM 12L (195.00 at instrumentpro.com used code AFF01 and got an additonal 5% off) the other I put and old JBL D120F in. Got both backs closed for now. I will be doing some experimenting including trying the Celestion G1265.

Coyote Cabs have really nice craftsmanship.

Re: InstrumentPro.com they drop ship from EV - took about 2 weeks to get the speaker. Really crappy customer service/communication.
