I finally finished my first ODS clone. Fired it up and everything works as it should.

I need some advise from other builders on how to tune the internal trimmers for the OD entrance and phase inverter?
What is the best way to get these settings right?

I went for 100k plates and 1500/10uF cathodes and 100k plates on V2 with 1500/4.7uF cathode. Skyline EQ with .047 mid cap.

It's been covered on this forum before but the rules of thumb are 30 - 50 % depending on guitar for the OD trimmer (assuming non-HRM) and 3 - 6 volts difference on the PI plates for the PI trimmer (use your ears and listen for max 2nd harmonic).

On the OD entrance I set the gains at noon, then adjust the trimmer until a get a nice JUST saturated tone that starts to clean up by just backing off the guitars volume. This setting varies according to your choice of guitar, but I like to set it using a bridge hum. It seems to give me the best overall setting.

With the PI, I'm not a supported of the voltage related adjustment. I find that when you play fairly loud, loud enough to need the cans on, you'll hear the 2nd order harmonics bloom when it's right. It's different for every PI tube.

Are you running 6L6?

Here is a link to some bias charts.
It depends on your plate voltage as to what you bias the tubes at.

I have a 2x6L6 amp and I am biased at 41ma.
My plate voltage is 434v.
Some say that these amps like to be set on the cool side of the bias range.
I would look at these charts and figure the range from 40% to 70% and then adjust it in that range with your ears.

Nice looking build.

I like to bias at about 36-40ma. I find it's not all that critical unless you go to extremes, below 30ma it starts crossover distortion, above 40 doesn't seem to improve tone so why push the tubes.

Are you running 6L6?

I am running winged c 6L6. The amp is currently biased at 38mA and plates are close to 430V.

What OT you have in it?

OT is a Heyboer Showman/Twin. The PT is Heyboer with only 230V primary and a extra 6.3V tap to run relay supply.

I removed the covers and spent one weekend removing paint and polishing them to high gloss using 2500 grit steelwoolpads and a metal cleaning solution called "Autosol".

I'm intrested because your OT looks taller than mine but the part number seems to be the same. Maybe its just the angle of picture and also maybe its not that important if it is the same or not.

Here is a video of the amp in action. I am a graduating as a electronic technician in may and this amp was my final project in one class.

In the video Omar Gudjonsson plays handmade guitars made by Gunnar Orn a local luthier here in Reykjavik.

He is using the clean channel and some pedals but I will post another video later of him playing through the OD.

He starts by speaking about what makes a guitar a good guitar in icelandic and then plays one jam.
