Hi all !

My name is Mat and I'm 39 years old Dumbletonefreak from Helsinki, Finland.

I must say this is the coolest place on the internet :o I've been lurking here for a short time and been amazed for the amps people are building.

I try to read everything here but lots of stuff I don't understand - I still consider myself as a beginner.

I have built two amps (P!/hioctane and uraltone jr), about 30-40 pedals couple single coil pickups and other stuff + guitars (I studied luthierity for 3 years).

You can visit my diy-homepage here: http://koti.welho.com/mtiilama/ It is nothing fancy - my first try of webpages.. I should update it more often but I'm more into playing/building guitars/amps than web page wizard.

I did visit at the Frankfurt musik messe this year and was lucky enough to try the Fuchs overdrive supreme 50w combo. I instantly fell in love with those sounds. As much as I would like to purchase on of those amps, it is not possible for me. And of cource I like to mod everything I build all the time :o

I thought to build a pedalversion of the preamp schem ( http://www.patmedia.net/bob-ingram/JPEG ... amp_CF.jpg ) to study the preamp a bit. I hope it is ok to build from that schem ?

So that is all for now !

cheers, Mat

Mat,

your site looks great, and your amps look great too....

my advice ...... dont build a pedal - build a 50w amp and you'll be very pleased. You'll get lots of help here.

Bob-I can fill you in on the details of his pedal circuit.

Hi Pete and manu !

Yes Pete I'm very _very_ anxious to build a clone. I really like (analog) pedals but if I somehow get to build an amp that sounds like Dogears amp (amazing player! - I like his style 100%) I think I will leave the boost, compressor and drivepedals alone because the sound of fuchs or dumble is THE sound for me. I know I do not have the playing skills Dogears have but anyway the tone of the amp is so important for me. It really temptates one to grab a guitar and not let go :P In Frankfurt messe I played so long that the other builders/sellers came to say that 'not so loud, shhhh!'

I would like to build a 50w one with a pair of 6L6. Would it be too hard to convert it to 100w later if need be ? I'm going to buy a big chasis and drill it for 4 output tubes and leave space for relays (od section tweaks) and other stuff (maybe a active effects loop) to later put on.

I was thinking to start with the Normsters layout. It seems to be very clear and it has reverb also.I will start without relays, might put them in later.
I'm considering a power transformer with specs like this:
UralTone TV7 power transformer - 230V//345-0-345V 0,210A/6,3V 8A / 55V 0.02A Good choice for about 100W tube amps. Designed to be replacement part to Marshall 100W tube amps..

For the output transformer I'm not sure yet.

What kind of reverb pan + reverb transformer should I consider for the Normster layout style amp?

And last question, what would be the major differencies between hybrid_a.pdf and Hybrid-A1.pdf schems on the files section ?

Thank You,
Mat
