OD trimmer on back panel

Post by aToneMint »

I just received the parts to move the OD trim to the back panel.
How many of you have this mod and how often do you use it?
Thanks in advance!

It's just a 100k pot and some shielded wire. You could get from any of the popular spots.

I haven't done it mainly because I don't want to drill any more holes.

But I suppose it could prove useful having it handy.

For me personally I like it on the back..1 It's a simple mod..2 I find it usefull when switching back and forth from Humbuckers to singles.. Helps to thicken up the single coil tone..3 it comes in handy if you like to try different tubes..4 I also find using a little sheilded wire there can help tame the high end bite a bit..Use good shielded wire there and noise is no real issue...

I did a non-standard layout, which includes the OD trim as a pot on the front panel. Maybe someday I'll find the sweet spot setting where I don't change it anymore, but for now I'm glad to have it up front.

I have one amp that I built in a Princeton Reverb Chassis. There was a hole just the right size for a pot just by V2. I put the trimmer in that hole. It's kinda fun to adjust, you reach in, burn your fingers on the tube, and with ice on one hand, reach in with the other and burn it too. Once that's done, you have no need to adjust it cauz you cain't play anyway.

But seriously, I do like to have it there so when I swap V2 I can tweak it. I can't measure it, but I can get a feel for the approx setting by the position of the pot.

OD on back

I put this in recently, used a 100k pot not pad, I have markings on the rear for 20k, 30k, 40k.... works great.
