New faceplate idea: Pic attached.

Post by Bob-I »

I stopped by Fed-Ex Kinko's today to ship something and while I was there I asked about the aluminum sign printing suggested on ax84.com. Turns out my local Kinko's doesn't do this so I asked about options.

They showed me a laminated paper sign that looks great. It's $.15 a square foot, printed laminated and cut. They accept any vector graphics file so I can use MS Visio.

Interesting idea?

That actually sounds better than the aluminum sign idea. The Kinkos in my area does metal signs, but they use press-on letters and are limited in terms of font size and style.

Bob, how is the finish on the lamenation. Glossy, satin, dull etc etc.

I have a one-off project for this summer (if I get time) and I am tired of that step :-).

The price is definately right!!

You have the choice of glossy of matt. They claim the matt holds up to exposure to sunlight better which really isn't an issue for us, but I kinda liked the matt even though it's a little grey-ish compared to the glossy.

Sounds great, I will have to give it a try on my next proto-type project.

Here's the results.....

I'd hoped for semi-gloss but that's special order and very expensive. This costs $6.10 and took an hour for Kinkos to make. It took me another 2 hours to drill it out and make it fit properly.
