124 preamp on SE output section?

Post by flatart »

I had for free a power tranny and an output Single-Ended transformer, that are good to have a SE output section with a EL34, KT66 (10/12W power ampli).
For the preamp section I would like to copy the #124 dumble clone schematics, without the rock/jazz switch and without FET input.
Do you think that this could be a good idea or that the SE output section will sound bad with this preamp?
Did anyone try this solution?
Your suggestions are very precious
thanks

Hi!

see

didn't try it, look closer at Brandons idea of modifying the Allen Class Act.

thanks Martin, but I looked at posts you suggested but it seems that the only SE project is Allen Class Act that has a completely different preamp: it seems to me a sort of SEL AX84 (that I have already built...).
