Feedback on V1 and the extra gain pot for the low gain (maybe not so low gain anymore) network on the back panel. Of course the snubbers too.... I find all mine sound better sans snubs...
Bob-I wrote:My understanding is the OTS is a decent design, the only issues seen have been lead dress. Make sure you download as many Dumble pics as you can from the files section and follow the real thing's lead dress.jezzbo wrote:Can you be more specific?dogears wrote:Btw, you guys should look at the gut shots of the OTS HRM. Lots of questionable circuit decisions, IMHO.
I bought a OTS (not HRM though) ampkit that I am putting together right now.
Since this is only my 3th amp that I'm putting together, I sure have a lot more to learn. (did learn a lot already on this forum, THANK YOU GUYS!)
At times it looks wrong, for example he runs the plate and cathode leads parallel on V1 and V2. The looks wrong compared to the lead dress rules and other amps, but on a Dumble this makes a subtle difference in the smoothness of the amp.
What I see on the HRM is that there are both an HRM and snubbers on V2. I've seen at least one Dumble like this, and one of my amps needs small snubbers with the HRM but in general you want one or the other, not both.
I'm not sure what else dogears saw, but that one jumped out at me.
Good luck with the build, when in question, take pics and post questions, lots of help here.

1. I don't know what you mean with "feedback on V1" (sorry novice)
2. no snubbers for the non HRM too?
Re: new ceriatone: Overtone His Royal Majesty (HRM) 100/50
I was only referring to the HRM. The pics show the standard Dumble local negative feedback (as used on non HRM only) on the V1 tube. I have years of experience with the HRM and I have never enjoyed the tone with the feedback. I have seen one real Dumble HRM with this feedback but the circuit was totally different and unique. I have not seen it at all with the typical 90s style HRM that we all know and love... The one detailed here on Ampgarage that Nik has clearly based his on.

I haven't heard ANY Ceriatone HRM clips that have really caught my ear just yet FWTW. I was curious where the design for this HRM model came from. So if I poke around the Dumble files section on this forum I would stumble upon the general schematic I take it?

Most folks don't like it...
We have some tuff economic times ahead of us...market will clean itself up.
Stop the bashing or...you will be court-marshalled...

Bashing is bad form but I didn't see any bashing...just people giving their opinions. And if an opinion isn't positive that doesn't make it bashing.
If a forum (or any medium for that matter) is such that people can only give opinions when they are positive then that forum (or medium) isn't worth much. We've got plenty of guitar magazines that review everything positively...lots of people would prefer to hear honest opinions and if they are not positive then so be it.
IMO of course.

I also haven't seen in the entire thread, that anybody has been bashed - and opinions are free and shouldn't be constricted, no matter, whether positive or negative!Fischerman wrote:Bashing is bad form but I didn't see any bashing...just people giving their opinions. This here IMO is just an opinion, not more! Although the first part ist the sad truth and I fully agree to the entire post!Funkalicousgroove wrote:I think the issue is that people come here, contribute NOTHING, and TAKE info posted here to use for financial gain. It is one thing to get info here to become educated and build yourself an amp, it's another to get info here to build amps comercially, and give NOTHING back to the community.
And this here is simply a fact, what probably was posted, to proof 'the truth' above. I think, that this finally had to be said!Funkalicousgroove wrote:https://tubeamparchive.com/search.php?s ... or=ampkits
