It was simply an informal non-scientific gathering of gearheads to compare amps, speakers, guitars and hot sauce....
OMG! You guys aren't sharing the hot sauce recipes!

My hot sauce will eat your hot sauce for breakfast!

To me the most fun thing is knowing that Most of us(guys building comercially that is) Know eachother, and get along famously. We don't talk trash about eachothers amps, we compliment eachother when we hear one that sounds great, and we send eachother customers when they ask for particular things that we don't do.

It never ceases to amuse me either. If we didn't, who else would we turn to to offload or for moral support.

We all populate this shared database of blacklisted customers and dickheads to.......actually that bits not 100% true......but we have been known to pre-warn each other of time vampires and tire kickers on occasion.

I'm happy to send customers to other builders if they are looking for a product that I don't build or agree when I think someone elses product would suit them better. In fact I did it publically yesterday on TGP. And as ironic as it may sound to this thread, I have told some customer s to check out Ceriatone. If they want to dabble and don't want to invest a lot, it's a reasonable choice. Those customers are not the same customers who would be realistically looking at buying any of our products anyway.

OK ampfest OTS owner back. I did fire her up today. Ran a Yamaha SA2000 into the Redplateamps D'lator, OTS, Mesa Boogie with EVM12L. It didn't sound anything at all like yesterday which again was weak, boxy and overly compressed. I won't tell you it sounded fantastic either. It was somewhere in between but leaning to the harsh side. Something isn't quite right. IMO, it's probably;

1. time to replace the power tubes as the JJ's aren't cutting it.
2. time to start messing around with V1 and V2
3. time to spend X dollars putting something in the loop because quite frankly, raw guitar, both rhythm and/or lead isn't necessarily the most refined pleasing sound to these ears.

I appreciate this sentiment, it's undoubtedly true, but doesn't directly apply to me FWTW. Hell I have the money even for the real deal, but I'm just a weekend warrior. I didn't relish spending 4 or 5 thousand on a rig just yet. I like my cash right now in this economy. I figured I'd dip my toes into the clone arena and see what would shake out. I didn't want to wait a year plus for Brandon's, Gary or CA backlog queue so I went with Nik. I'm in the church, now I have to find the pew or insert whatever other analogy you want.

Don't forget V3, I find it just as important as V1 and V2. I've had good success with Sovtek 12AX7LPS as well as the standards like JJ and EH.

Not that this is any sort of attempted sell, just a factual correction.
I sell only through Dealers and Dealer order to delivery from us is approx 8-10 weeks, which is excellent and I do everything in my power to keep it at that. I keep seeing that assumption, so I thought I would correct it...again...lol

That is all. Nothing sinister in my comments. We'll get together and retube soon and maybe that is it....

Are you telling me you were comparing a 50 watt Ceriatone ODS to a competitiver 100 watt model beast??????????????????

You know better than that..................................

50 watters vs 50 watters.............100 watters vs. 100watters
Scott, I was only kidding as you can see from smiley face winking. I will try and make it more evident next time.

Sorry

It is unfortunate that in the recent thread regarding the Ceriatone HRM amp it degenerated into something other than a discussion of that topic, for which you were partly responsible. It appears from your posts in that thread you even realized that point. Your comment above serves no purpose other than to inject into this thread the very behavior you so recently criticized.

What a disappointment to find the same thing happening here in the same day. Perhaps you should revisit your previous posts on the subject.

Rob,

I am being honest, the Bludo sounds killer in that video...actually awesome, but the Carol Ann OD will give that amp a run for it's money. That is not a bull comment...sorry you do not like the answer.

As far as Scotty's playing......it kicks butt. Incredible player and wish I had his chops.
They don't sound even remoteley alike, what is your comment based on? You haven't played my amps, nor have you played them in the same room as a Carol Ann- so there is no merit of any kind to your little comments-why are you being a hater?
Brandon,

Not being a hater....No way... I think the Blue Suede amp Scotty was playing on you tube sounded awesome. Let's talk about $$$, same amp as Scotty's and a time frame for delivery.
Hopefully that should cure all your thoughts about me.

Since he was banned there I guess he's decided to come over here and start spewing his oral diharrea about how all these other amps are better than mine, about how I'm making too much profit (maybe he works for UNICEF?- I got bills to pay myself) about how his Carol Ann will Smoke my amps, about how I Bash Nik- but I don't, I simply state truthful events that led to the release of his amp, and make note of the fact that he contributes nothing here, yet looks here for Ideas for his next model.
Brandon,

See what I mean....... character....I have been here for quite a while.

Truthful events about Nik.....bullcrap.. Leave it alone if you have nothing good to say.

Now let's get back to business and forget the noise. How about the same amp as Scotty's? $$$ & delivery?

Please! Let's not make the Amp Garage turn into The Gear Page.
As soon as comments about one amp sounding better than other come out, all negativity breaks loose. It's f*****g amplifiers people, get a grip !!! Everyone has an opinion, you don't have to like it.
The above comment is amusing, especially if you had any idea how many infractions I've had over there. I've had my fair share of war storys and outright attempts to sabotage on TGP as well as positive comments.

Brandon, in the most respectful way, I'm now at the happy place where I don't give a shit if people think someone elses amp sounds better than one I've built or visa versa....music is not a competitive sport, neither is amp building. THey are opinions, their opinions, regardless if they are fair, you agree with them or you disagree with them. Don't feel you need to defend yourself, as soon as you do things get worse. At least thats what I've found.
Myself and Gary laugh about it all the time when people put our amps up against each other. Who gives a crap, really ?
If people call me wanting an exact Dumble clone or to sound like Robben, I will happily (and do) send them your way in the same way I send people to Allyn Myers if I get requests for TW clones. You guys are very similar to me and provide a service that many full time amp builders don't.
Anyway, peace bro !! You'll never hear me making comments about my amps sounding better than someone elses. I promise that.

Paul, you're a good guy, don't stir a bees nest, it can make you look very different to how you really are :)

Alan.
Alan,

I understand, but it's my opinion about what I hear between your amp and the Bludo. Can I not have an opinion? Both sound fantastic, but if your looking for more than a Dumble tone and want some, Marshall and Fender in your life.......the Carol Ann OD Delivers.

Sorry of stirring the bees nest and will stop.

Hello (Alan?), I enjoyed hearing and playing your amp. Cleans were outstanding as well. My assumption was indeed wrong, thanks for the correction.

I have no problem with anyone's opinion about their amp preference. But, in this thread and other threads, there is a *not so hidden agenda* being revealed that is inappropriate for this forum, IMHO. The Carol Ann will eat is up for breakfast, is that a non-biased opinion? Sounds a bit aggressive to me, and by a poster who I doubt has even compared the amps (which as you know are quite different). The poster has an issue with Brandon, which he chooses to expose in a public forum in a passive aggressive manor, which isn't appropriate IMHO.

Really, Alan I expected a bit more maturity from you...
To set the story straight Alan had nothing to do with my opinion, it was my own. Sorry if my opinion does not jive with the clan's.
