Angel's Breath

Post by tictac »

Anyone have any info on the infamous "Angel's Breath" amp?

It was reported to be a Tweed Deluxe type of amp with a cathode biased 6L6 power amp and some sort of "guitar tone enhancing" circuit in the preamp. (isn't that called a "tube"?)

Just wondering if anyone had heard of this curiosity...

I only heard a couple of comments about it . I think Ted webber was asked to make a couple of prototype chassi's for it. I think it was to use 12AT7 's in the pre amp stages, maybe even the Driver. Does that sound like the Angel's Breath to you? What a name . even if the guy does build great amps , The Mystic he creates is his greatest advertisment.

The 12AT7 stuff is news to me, only heard about the power amp and the Tweed Deluxe Like statement...

It is kind of a cool name though...

I had read somewhere that the AB amp was only used when HAD was present in the studio. I thought (adding more mystic to the story) you had to rent the amp and HAD as a package deal. Do a google search on the amp, I am pretty sure that you can find a short article from Daved (Robben's tech) on the AB amp.

Of course I could be wrong.

How about the MegaPlex? Speaking with those that have played the MP it is the biggest, baddest Marshall sound you have ever heard. It is also a rent - not - to - own amp.

actually a full at7 amp sounds interesting, just cause we use ax's all the time doesn't mean its the end all:) Arn't at's basically the same with less gain? which means you could stack more on top of each other and get some pretty nice clean... and drive the shit outa their inputs for gain? Of course im just talkin crap since i dont know:)
