Extruded U channel chassis
I've heard of a chassis version with extruded U channel for front and back and an aluminum bottom plate. Anyone heard of this before?

Actually some of the early Dumble were a three piece chassis, the top was bolted to the front and back panels.
I have also thought about using extruded aluminun (box style), say 9" wide b 2.5" high. Then cut a section out to form the lips using a table saw. Problem was I could never find aluminum that was the right size and thickness.

I've currently got 24' of 3" by 1/2" extruded channel obtained toward that end. It is available in other dimensions of course but sometimes you'll have to run it through the table saw to get the lip to 1/2". I like 3" chassis.
My intention is to do a tutorial here with pictures and arrows and everything when time allows. I haven't been to the shop in a couple of weeks though so it may be awhile. I intend to use aircraft rivets because I have the equipment to do so but screws would be fine. I'll make one useing duraweld too just for the experience.
I would say if you embark on this before I get around to it that it seems to me pretty important that the surfaces bolted together should have an application of Penetrox or some other cu-al aid to ensure long term conductivity between sides of the assembly.
