VVR in a D'Lite

Post by Raja »

Has anyone placed Dana's VVR in their BN D'Lite 22? I'm not sure where to put it, I'm running out of real estate.
Is it advisable to connect the mosfet to the board with wires?

I took some pics of where it might fit, I'll cut the heat sink in half and run the pot out the back.

I'm open for suggestions.

Thanks

I have not done a VVR in a D Lite but I have installled 1 in an 18 Watt and 1 in an 18 Lite IIb. Worked very well but I did find it was VERY sensitive to lead dress. I'd suggest keeping it as close to the PT and as far away from the pre-amp as possible.

I think I can move the rectifier board and power supply for the relays and make room for it there but I'll still have to run wire to the pot.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I just finished my install of Dana's VVR in my BN D'Lite 22. A big thanks to Deric for steering me in the right direction on positioning the board. I had to move a couple other boards to make room but it worked out great.
I won't have time to try it out till Friday afternoon.

And again Thanks to Dana for making this available to all of us.

questions regarding VVR2 in D'Lite

Post by wokkel »

Hi Raja,

I've just ordered a VVR2 board for my D'Lite44.
I was wondering whether you scaled the whole amp, or just the power tubes.
And if only the power tubes, did you install a PPIMV ?

Harald

PS how much did you like it?

I don't understand WHY you would want or need a VVR in a D'lite. The topology of the ODS is such that the output section stays relatively clean and all effects of distortion and compression come from the preamp. If you need to lower the SPL, turn down the master volume.

What am I missing?

You're missing all that heat and the lack of "feel" caused by the damping change.
