HRM Board Layout

Post by benoit »

So far most of the HRM boards I've seen are PCB so I drew up a little layout based on one I remember seeing somewhere. Just wanted to make sure it looks ok.

I'm working on a full layout based exactly on the ODS-101 HRM Schematic.

Great layout! Looks correct.
This is a very minor thing but you might consider 500K on the bass trimmer unless you are keeping it authentic. I have seen several clones with 500k and in my experience the trimmer never gets adjusted beyond 500k, but the main reason to use 500k is that there seems to be a narrow range where the 1meg goes from not enough bass to too much. It is very sensitive so the 500k may give a smoother transition. After 400k nothing much happens as you have all the bass you are going to get IME. YMMV

Thanks for the tip, I appreciate any help I can get. I'm sort of working on two projects. One is a layout done exactly to ODS101HRM spec, sort of for my education but also for the community. It seems like n00bs like myself get referred to the ODS101 schematics all the time but there hasn't been a layout available that matches all the values. Once I get that done and posted, I'll build my amp stock and see what I think. Then I'll start tweaking and probably post my edited schematic and layout reflecting my changes.

Have you seen these? In case you wanted it to look more like the real thing.

Thanks man, interesting pics to check out. If I was set up to make pcbs I might try it that way but I just want something that will work reasonably well with a an eyelet board. I bought some G10/FR4 from mcmaster carr and I'm making all my own boards.

Oh, I see, I misunderstood your original post. I thought you were making a PCB.

I'll be following along as I have not done a HRM...yet ;)

If you are going to be doing the layout based on the real ones, and you don't have the pictures already, I can post the whole underside pictures for those 4 HRM amps.

Can't wait for the ODS-101 HRM Layout !!

That will be a great addition to the board.

I have a Twin build that went south and that iron is just looking for a new home.

Thanks!

Shouldn't be long now. Semester's finally over and I've almost got the preamp main board done. HRM is done already so after that it's mainly just power and then I'll put it up for people to check out.
