Should the built in dumbleator and reverb power filter grounds connect to the pot ground bus ? (same as V1, V2 and V3)

I've never seen a Dumble with the PS grounds going to the pot bus, always to the chassis near the PT.

I put in a D-Lator in 3 amps and reverb in 2 WITH the D-lator and I've always used the same star ground for all of the preamp filters including the Dlator and reverb filters. I've never had a noise problem.

Ok, thanks Bob. But the PI filter cap ground shouldn't go to the same spot as the V1 and V2 grounds ?

The PI filter ground goes to the BUSS at the SEND/RTN jacks

The power supply caps for V1 V2 and V3 all ground to the chassis where the ground buss terminates near the input jack.

The PI filter or presence network does indeed terminate at the send return jack but are we talking the presence network or the power supply "filter" for the PI (V3)? Your first question leads me to think your actually asking about the power supply cap for the PI's ground. That is terminated at to a start ground at the same spot os the buss bar.

True...

Ok. Would it be wise run the ground wire(s) under the pots or between the pots and preampboard ?

So the 1uF (680n) at the presence should not ground in the same place with the other preampboard grounds? I'll route it to the send jack.

IIRR I've seen layouts where the PI power supply cap does not go to the same spot as the V1 and V2 supply cap grounds. hmm..

I have mostly seen them between the pots and board. That said I recently have built a few with that lead under the pots and from what I can tell no ill effects and lots of compliments on the tone.

Yup

Perhaps you have indeed. All I know is later Dumbles had V1-V3 all grounding to the chassis near the input jack for sure.

Screens go to the rear of the amp near a power tube.
Main filter near the PT rear bolt, closest to the power mains.

D-lator and Reverb

Post by sst4270 »

Bob,

Can you post any photos of your builds with d-lator and reverb built in? I'd really like to see details of your layout?

Or if you've posted photos here previously could you provide me a link?

I'm just getting ready to build another D'Lite 44 from scratch and am considering including those items in my build. I'll be CNC'ing bending the chassis from scratch.

Thank-you in advance.

Sincerely,

Steve
