Gil,
Do you have tone sample(MP3) of #124?
If you have, could you post it?
Thank you.

I'm afraid Billy and I didn't record any clips when we checked the amp out, Tomo.tomo wrote:Gil,

Who owns it now?
I hope that is ok to ask that?
I was just wondering if there is an artist using it and if there are recordings?

Re: #124 tone sample
The owner actually asked not to be named. He's a great guitarist, rather well known for his acoustic and straight ahead playing, so I am not sure this amp would featured in many of his own recordings... But, he's played on just about everbody's records, movies and TVs over the last 30 years, so who knows. Plays locally all the time, I should go see him and see whether he uses the amp live.Structo wrote:Who owns it now?

Now, I can make two statements:
1. The amp was very brown sounding, it kid of reminded me of a Tweed Bassman of sorts, not a clean sound in it. It needed a cap job when I played it, didn't get to hear it afterwards but I am sure it sounded punchier and brighter.
2. My clone of it sounds the closest thing to the "Talk To Your Daughter" record CD than anything else I have ever built of played. It can get fairly gainy, it's fast sounding and has great string zing on the top end.
Cheers,
Gil

So, did Billy do the cap job? Do you know what type of caps were used to replace the 300uf ones. Did you use 300uf caps in your #124 clone?ayan wrote: It needed a cap job when I played it, didn't get to hear it afterwards but I am sure it sounded punchier and brighter.
Re: #124 tone sample
Billy replaced some of the caps. I did not see or play the amp after that, so I don't know what went in it. I don't use 300uF caps in my amps, I use 220uF in most and used 100uF in one of them.ic-racer wrote:So, did Billy do the cap job? Do you know what type of caps were used to replace the 300uf ones.
