What the original dumbleator lacked?

I built my Dumble clone #124 and I built a dumbleator based on Tony’s layout and everything sounds fantastic! But my curious mind is wondering why was the Dumbleator 2 made? I see there is another 12ax7 in there. I haven’t had a hobby this enjoyable in a long while, which is why I’d like to build a dumbleator 2. So I will be on the “hunt” for any help I can get with a proper chassis, and anything else that might be readily available. Thank you everyone!
