BF Super Reverb & Tube Screamer will get you closer than you might think. Especially his early tone before he started recording through 8 amps at once.
I've got blisters on my fingers!

Looks like Mystic is still in the business and going strong with an SRV amp out this year. The clips are inspirational.

Fuchs is going to release their "Clean Machine." It might get you pretty close too.

In the early day's I saw him Several time's in Austin, He was playin #1 though a Wha, Tubescreamer, and a Twin, His guitar was strung with Fat string's and his tone was very good, As he got more popular his rig's changed but his tone and style stayed the same,
What you have to remember is, it was Stevie that made that tone, not so much the rig, If you gave me Stevie's rig, I would still sound like me, and i'm sure that if Stevie played my rig, he would still sound like Stevie.
Just my 2 cents !

Its my understanding that he used a large selection of amps depending on the album. 'Texas Flood' was reportedly a Dumble. A super reverb as mentioned with a tube screamer (808) would get you close, add big strings, big frets, rosewood fretboard, aggressive right hand picking, listen to ALOT of Albert King and his other influences and you'll be where alot of players wanting his sound will be. We have a guy here local we all call SRV Dave that gets the sound with a 4x10 super reverb, tube screamer and a wah, he's relatively close to the sound, tuned down half step, 13's etc. I won't comment on the debate is it in the hands, peronally I'd say yeah. but people are going to believe what they will so its irrelevent.

I am new, I was owner of a Mystique amp tuned for that SRV "Texas flood tone", this jewel amp is today sold and I have never heard an other amp capable of that amazing tone. My plan today is to built a dumble clone to re capture that sound. On this forum, I have listen a lot of people who play essentially "fusion" or "cool rock" like Robben Ford and I agree the ODS do it superbly but I am looking for the texas tone killer, like a big fender on steroids with a lot of headroom just like the youtube clip when Alexander Dumble plays his "Low down" tune, this deep fat clear tone is my holy grail. My questions are:
- A full schemes of the #124 is available, is able this to do this tone (SRV)? If not ,what your advice for me and what style of Dumble circuitry you recommend?
- If not, could anyone tell me the change to do in the # 124 (or other accuratly available) circuitry in the Dumble way to get the tone I am looking for?

- Who build accurate chassis and Dumble face plate 80's style?
- If someone can post a clip of his ODS clone build with the schemes available here, I am interrested to hear the tone, if it's in the texas shuffle style with a strat,it's far better

- Any other solutions? I have a very skilled old amp tech who can build it but I want to be sure I will make the right choice of amp and sure the value and components are accurate.

Regards

Mark

Mark,
Check out this thread - I am going more for the overdriven SRV sounds, but its a clone with a Strat...
