Hi guys,
I've been thinking of building a Steel String Singer. I've built lots of ODS's...but never gone down this rabbit hole. One quick question - did he actually add a reverb tank to the heads? Or was reverb only in the combos? I'm wondering how you'd get a tank in a head cabinet without inducing hum or noise, if he had them actually in the head cab.
Thanks
humbly, Mark

Re: Steel String Singer basic question
The SSS heads I know of all have built in reverb.
Some spacing between tank and PT is necessary.
In my case I had too put the input/output jacks of the tank facing the front of the Sss002 clone amp.

I also place the tanks the same way in my Overdrive Reverb heads and they come out nice and quiet. I keep my heads about 10 3/4 in in tall and that is all the room I need to keep things nice and quiet.
Most important thing is to keep the red reverb tank jack furthest from the power transformer and you are good to go!
Which SSS are you thinking of building?

Moved the topic to the 'discussion' section. Your post has no 'files' related to dumble amps.

So...I've built a few #183's and a couple #104?'s. I'm not really sure which SSS to build, but I'm thinking I'd like 50 Watts rather than 100. I need to look through the files and read up some more. I'm open to suggestions if you have anyGuy77 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 2:28 pm I also place the tanks the same way in my Overdrive Reverb heads and they come out nice and quiet. It has the features of the #004 and the Cathode follower of #002 . The best of both worlds. This will give you the amazing cleans on the John Mayer amp with the added cathode follower from the #002 There are a lot of other nice versions on this forum as well.
Cheers
