I've heard Robben Ford say that Dumble went through his Deluxe Reverb and tweaked it, mainly tightening up the bass.
Does anyone know what he does to them? Looking to mod my Deluxe Reverb. And tightining the bass would be a big plus for me.

Don't know what Dumble does but you could...
1. Increase filtering in PS
2. Lower cathode bypass caps from 25uf to 10uf
3. Lower coupling cap to the PI.
4. Change speaker
I am sure some more suggestions will come!

I'm interested too. I know his DR has got a Celestion G12-65 but that's about it. More "mods"?
Re: Alexander Dumble mod's to a Deluxe Reverb
Robben played a Strat through that Deluxe Reverb on this tune on one of my sister's records: http://www.stonecupid.com/audio/JULIE-T ... 0-lofi.m3u
It is pretty much just fills and comping. If you would like to hear the whole thing it's available on iTunes. "Thunderhead" by Julie Christensen. CD = Love is Driving
**Shameless plug
This was likely recorded in '96?

Robben has been using a Southbay Ampworks Scumback H75 65w for a little while now in his Deluxe Reverbs for the speaker. Just an update on his speaker

Step 2 & 3, would these apply to a 65 DRRI also? I believe there are some differences between the BF Deluxe and a Reissue.keithrick wrote:Don't know what Dumble does but you could...

GC, Those mods would apply to almost any amp to tighten up bass.
BTW-Have you guys seen the Dumble mods for fenders on Schematic Heaven? I believe they are for the AB763 circuit, doesn't matter if it is Deluxe Reverb, Bassman, Twin or Reissue?
Look under >mods>fender mods there all there!
Here is an example:

The reason for asking is simply, after I've completed my current ODS project I'm hoping to create my 'Ultimate Clean Machine' to allow me to retire my ageing (original Jan'65) DR. It would be good to know if I would be considered completely barking mad if I attempted such a thing by the Dumbleers.
Many thanks to anyone who might be able to elucidate on the subject.
Apart from the regular amp tweaker's 'tricks' as outlined by Keithrick, would HAD have applied some of his signature ODS traits such as RN65's on plates and slope (instead of the cc's) and 225p/6PS OD's or would these kind of components be totally unsuitable/undesirable in a DR circuit.1. Increase filtering in PS
