ODS 124 switching

Post by Goldguitarguy »

Hey gents,

Been a long time creeper and now I’m a first time poster.

I finally finished my ODS build over Xmas and it sounds great so far but I have some gremlins in the switches I think. Bright switch works normal. Mid boost adds a lot of volume when switched on and cuts volume when switched off, like what seems an absurd amount to me. The rock/jazz switch seems to do nothing at all. PAB and OD switches on the back work as they should. Haven’t built the foot switch yet, that’s next on the list.

I’ve checked the circuit over and over and it all seems right according to the schematic and the layout diagram. At this point I think I might have an internal relay issue. Any suggestions from the experts in diagnosing? Anyone come across this problem?

I’ll post some pics when I get a chance later.

Hey there,

Congrats on the build!

Please post some pics of the switches, relays and wiring. This is always helpful when trying to diagnose a problem.

You know I’ve spent the last week trying to figure out where I went wrong and when I went to take the first picture to post here I found the culprit...lol

The 100k resistor coming off of the second terminal of the treble pot was bent down and shorting out the third terminal...What a joke I am...hahahaha... Bent it back and all is good now

Those are the best solutions. Sometimes just explaining a problem helps you look at it from a different perspective.... same thing taking a pic.

I like to use shrink tubing on the bare metal to prevent accidently bending a component and shorting something out. You can use the hookup wire coating you strip off as well.

Glad you got it sorted
