Re: Which ODS has better cleans?
Here´s my .02 (euro) cents ( .0235 USD ) : Tony´s and Charlie´s post sum up everything I´ve learned in the past 41 years about the Dumble (clean) tone, I agree 100 %. My conclusion: While Dumbles are, more or less, capable of producing Fender-style cleans, a Dumble is not really a Fender, nor was it ever meant to be. What I personally use in the studio for getting " blackface" cleans is activating both the "Deep" and "Bright" switches on my personal amp (2nd gen ODS modded to 3rd gen specs). This seems to work on a lot of D-style amps. Thanks again to everyone here for all the great contributions over the years. Greetings from Germany Marcos
Re: Which ODS has better cleans?
There's one popular builder who uses a 120K slope resistor in some of his D voiced amps as a compromise. I think the compromised scoop helps keep the cleans more towards Fender while still providing a reasonably thick overdrive that stands out in the live band mix a little better than the 150K. Works for me and easy to try.
