JM Two Rock + ODS + more

Post by small cat »

Just some progress pictures of this build me and my engineer (99% my engineer) have been working on. Still very far from being finished.

We started with a Ceriatone JM100 kit because that was the cheapest starting point for me, but this really is not a Ceriatone amp.

We brought the amp back to Two Rock specs, then changed some aspects of the design that my engineer found problematic. For example, changed values of pots or components here or there, use different size/type of wire somewhere, use linear instead of audio taper here, use different cap type here, etc. Then engineered in a few new things like:

-ODS OD circuit, footswitchable. (with trim and tone on back panel.)
-"Boost" via footswitchable attenuation, adjustable via internal pot.
-Tube buffered effects loop with adjustable send and return level.
-Mid pot vs Bass pot short switch (an idea I got from Ryan C's videos on YouTube, but my engineer suggested without seeing the vid)
-Global negative feedback resistance on a pot instead of fixed value.
-Two bias pots to be able to run two different types of output tubes at once.

If anyones interested we're going to draw up a schematic of the amp once it's all completed! :) ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Yes, please! I am very interested in seeing a schematic. THANKS for sharing your great work!

IF you use ExpressSCH format in drawing up schematics, there is a library of editable D-style schematics (that may be helpful) here:

https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=17449

Not suggesting you should use that program, simply mentioning that it exists.

Heh, def 11. The idea with this amp was not tone but was to save the neighborhood some money on their heating bill [emoji41]

Good call!

I'm not a very patient girl so I certainly won't be making the schematic. That'll be my engineer doing it, he's 60 years old and quite old school so I'm sure he'll want to do it by hand haha

I'm considerably older then he is. :D

Whatever form that it is shared is genuinely appreciated!

IF for some reason, your friend was open to the idea of using an ExpressSCH program to draw the schematic, I've attached an editable version for his consideration.

It has an editable schematic for a reportedly JM D-style amp, the power rail on the 2nd page and an active tube FX on the 3rd page along with an OD drive section.

Every page is editable and components and parts can be moved around from one page to another. It allows somewhat of a cut and paste and edit assemblying of a schematic.

More progress. Just ended up doing essentially a dumblator for the effects loop. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
