Used to play out alot the bands name was NASTY ELMER man was that fun pinning the name on the singer. Now all I want to do is build and drive my kids crazy by making them listen to some guy name scott  God I gotta get a life :) Now if I can just get a couple Estaban riffs down I'm Golden

taking different things from different teachers is helping me -

I spend the first year of my quest to get out of pentatonics by taking lessons from one of the most amazing technical players in my area.
Lots of discipline and technical goodness, but not much fun and motivation.

I swapped teachers a month ago to a guy whos a great ( but less good technically ) player but also plays bass full time and arranges horns.

Ive learned more about applying what I know to real playing situations and unlocked more actual "music" in a few lessons than in the whole year before.
I guess the technical dexterity set me up well , but what a difference a new teacher can make -

same with an amp - especially this one. And also interesting how someone with real knowledge can educate you towards a "tone" goal as well.

cheers
