First clip of the replica

Post by Normster »

Hope I don't regret posting this. ;)

I just recorded a few takes with different settings and chained them together. Nothing special, but it should give some idea of the range of the amp. I'm still tweaking and getting used to the tone, but the amp seems to have some great potential (unlike my playing).

Another quick clip with 3 different amps; a Fuchs/SLX modded Bassman, a Bassman that I modded, and the new Dumble replica.

All clips were recorded at bedroom volume. Both Bassmans were pushing a 1x12" EVM Black Shadow, the replica was pushing a 1x12" Tonespotter. SM57 about 2" off center.

To be fair, the Fuchs (tuned by Dogears) has better sustain at low volumes and sweeter note bloom, but I was still pretty surprised at the tonal similarity.

Thanks, Bob. It doesn't do the creamy fusion thing very well, but I'm totally diggin' the blues tones! :)

Sounds great! What tweaks to the Hybrid-a did you do?

Thanks, Scott! I feel a little embarrassed to call the amp "my build" without giving you credit for being the chief architect.

And yes, Greg's amp is just killer!

Diggin the tone!! The first clip kind of reminds me of Larry Carlton, very vocal quality.

Thanks for the listen. :)

I'm in the process of discovering what the amp is capable of in its current state before I do any tweaking. It does seem to have a pretty decent Carlton vibe, which is my favorite anyway. So far, my favorite tone is the mid position on my semi-hollow and gain at about 10 o'clock.
