Voltage problems

Post by rutledj »

At this point in the build I seem to have rather high B+ voltages. My ckt is a 2 channel clean (Clean 1 = Fender, Clean 2 = Dumble) and the dumble ckt is a dlite. Right now I'm just working on the Fender channel and have the other stages grounded out (inputs).

B1 = 460v
B2 = 459
B3 = 448
B4 = 357
B5 = 332

Really no drop across the choke. After the choke my R's are

1.5k
20k
10k
150k

I'm also fighting a bad hum problem.

Any suggestions?

Yep...

PI dropping should be a 3.3K wirewound.

Then 22K and 2.2K

You guys keep following the Dlite schematic which is based on Dumble with some changes made to accomodate 6V6 tubes and lower PT voltage. Check Higains 101 schematics. They are more "accurate" for regular builds.

Well, Found the hum problem. Coming from the relay ps. I have a separate set of windings supplying 22vac to a bridge rect, 7812 with a 100uf cap across the ouput.

Can you suggest another method that would produce less hum?

On this relay supply, would it hurt anything to put a cap from the relay ground to chassis ground? This gets rid of the hum. (I don't have the two grounds connected since doing so causes everything to heat up on the relay board.
