I'm starting to assemble parts for a build (not sure which version yet) and thought I'd butcher an old Carvin xt112 50w amp I have. I looked at it's schematic and saw what the 25/50/Full switch was doing. It is reducing the voltage on the PI Plates from 460v at full to 60.8v at 50% and 18.5v on 25%!
Power amp readings (under load) 700v, 23.5v (for electronics on pc board) and 6.3 vct. I think they used the same xfmrs in both the 50 and 100 watt, just didn't put the tube sockets on the pc board.
A type of power scaling I guess but just on one tube. I can't really distinguish any tone change with it either. Wonder how that would work in one of these amps?
My question is that this amp uses 2 el34s. Will this same OT work with 6l6s?
Thanks
Rut
