Question about Pt for D-lite

Post by dimitris »

Hi, another European here sourcing parts for a D-lite build.
I have already an 18 watt ot and I’m looking for a suitable pt.
The closest match I have found to the 325-0-325 pt suggested for D-lite is this:
Fender PT 50 Watt Universal
Pri1: 0-120-230 V
Sec1: 350-0-50-350 V @ 140 mA
Sec2: 6,3 V @ 4 A
Sec3: 5 V @ 3 A
Do you think that this transformer is suitable for 2 6v6 power tubes or the voltages will be too high.
Thanks
Dimitris

That should work fine. I used a similar PT on my D Lite. I had to play with the dropping string just a little to get the voltages in the ball-park.

Does anyone know the dimensions for the laydown mount power transformer cutout? How about the mounting studs? Thank you!!!

The PT I used had mounting centers at 2.5" x 3.125". The chassis cutout is about 2.25" x 2.75" ( it's hard to measure the hole with the tranny installed).

Thank you very much! I have a D'Lite chassis on order. I have most of the parts and want to order Mercury transformers. Can't wait to get started!

I gotta tell you, we were very disappointed with the MM Vibro iron in the D'Lite, the cleans were nice, but the OD was harsh and fizzy in comparison, with far less harmonics and sustain.

Sure sounds good in a Vibroverb, though.

It just so happens that I do not have the Vibrolux trannies. I have some others but not the Vibrolux set. I guess the best route at this point is to order the set right from the Brown Note. Thank you for the heads up! When will they be available?

Sorry to rain on your parade...not trying to hock my stuff, just sharing my opinion of the MM vibro in the D22, which as Norm said sounds really good in the vibrolite.
