Fender Twin Reverb II Project

Post by makrisp »

Folks, I converted a Twin Reverb II to a Dumble (Robben Ford) sound. It was not easy, but I will highly recommend the amp for a conversion. I customized the sound through an open back 2X12 w/ 1 EVM 12L & an Eminence Red Fang.
You will not be dissapointed by your efforts.

Congratulations! And I take it that you've been working out! :D (That's an odd combination of speakers, not to mention HEAVY!)

Got pics or clips?

I will have pics posted soon. Clips??? Alan Phillips (Carol Ann Amplification) hopefully will be over in the next few weeks to listen, he can be your ears. I do not trust clips as they can be adjusted to sound good. It is a very heavy head, but so is a 100 watt Dumble.

Speakers: The EVM 12L and the Red Fang make an excellent combination, you should try it.

As far as clips go, I guess you have to look at the motivation of the poster. If you want to 'strut your stuff', then you're going to try to present your amp in the best possible light, so 'adjustments' are tempting. On the other hand, if you're looking for useful feedback, then you'd best try to present them as accutrately and honestly as possible. I don't have a problem in either case, as long as there isn't an attempt to mislead the rest of us.

I have both an EVM and a Red Fang in my arsenal. I just don't think they've ever been in the same room at the same time - I'll have to give it a try.

Cheers, OB

I can never get the live sound to record well. I find myself playing around w/ the EQ, compression, mics, ect...
Any recommendations on honest & best recording setups?
I am not looking for useful feedback as I own a Dumble and know exactly what it should sound like. I am posting to help out folks in reaching a good live tone, w/ amps that are readily available.
Definently try out the Red Fang EVM 12L combo, as it is fantastic.

Okay - I see where you're coming from on the clips. On that note, I don't try to match the 'live sound' with my clip. I try to match the clip sound with my live - by evaluating my amp through an SM57 asnd set of closed cans.

I've never had the pleasure of hearing a Dumble live (except in a concert setting which is hardly an unbiased environment) or having one at my disposal. I'm jealous! :D

Congratulations! These are fine amps to convert (see my signature).
