Hi all,
I was wondering whether in the U.S. to sell amplifiers commercially, whether your amps need to pass some electrical safety stds.
One thing I was showning my d'lite build to a local boutique amp builder. The chassis layout (ceriatone) dumble clone. He mentioned to me that the chassis layout would never pass Australian electrical safety stds to sell commercially because the mains voltage is too close to dc. And he mentioned how specific gauge wire is required for certain parts of the amp etc.
The safety stds are very expensive here ($thousands) and are extremely rigorous. I think it’s against the law to sell an amp (or any high voltage product) commercially here without going thru these safety stds. But nonetheless people still do.
Basically if you don’t have the stds tick of approval, and someone gets fried using your amp, you’re really screwed.
