Tag,
That's a great clip, playing and tone. Really shows what the TKT can do.

What I meant about bias was I thought the tubes were biased at 63ma for each individual tube.

Tag, do you still have both TKT amps? 6L6 and EL34 and if you do which do you find yourself plugging into most often?

Of course. Im not letting either one go unless I have to! I just have those 2, my old HR Deville 4/10 (which I still love to death for cleans), and a little Blues JR with the jensen speaker. The only amp I really miss is one of my Cowtippers, but I cant afford another right now. I sold all three to help fund the Dumble!

I play them both about the same. I really cant choose between them, as they both have their own strengths. The 6L6 is smoother on the lower strings, but is also more compressed and does not have as much of that "acoustic along with overdrive" thing going on that I love so much about the El34 amp. Also, totally opposite of what I would have thought, is the EL34 has the better cleans. I still have yet to play any Dumble cleans I dig as much as a good fender though. I guess I am just a sucker for the scooped mids for clean tones.

Mr. Dumble, please accept my apologies for hijacking your thread. This will be my last post. I enjoy your playing BTW, keep them coming!

@Talbany

Thank you for your advise Tony, totally agree with you (don't I always!). That's what I usually do, but curiosity still bugs me, always want to know what's cooking inside the glass, although the ultimate test is in your ears as you state.

Again, thank you for your time.

Good week end to both.
Horacio

You're not alone. Two iconic tones I can't without are the Fender cleans, and the clean with a little hair of a Marshall, like the tone here:

http://www.germinoamps.com/audio/tribute.mp3

Now if I could have those two with a Dumble lead tone like your 183, I might stop building amps...

Nah, who am I kidding.

Very nice clips and playing.

I do not believe so, but Shad could tell you. If I can rememeber correctly, it was an amp Shad was messing around with for himself, and I happened to call him. He start telling me about it, and i kind of talked him into selling it to me on tyhe spot. Thats the reason i had it in like a week or two from first wanting it. Shad, if you are around, you are welcome to correct me. In any case, I love the amp, and in its own way, sounds as good as the original el34, NOS parts or not.

Lefty who is the artist on that song?
I thought it was Andy Timmons but I can't find it in the music I have.

EDIT:

I looked on Germino's website and it says it is Emerson Swinford.

Never heard of him!

Yeah I was so impressed with his playing and the tones he got that I converted my JTM45 to be closer to the Club 40 specs. Then a friend heard the amp and convinced me to sell it to him. I miss that amp. I need to build another one like it.

His other clips are quite tasty as well:

Mr Dumble, in this "102 Feedback City" thread https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... sc&start=0 Tony posted some clips of the kind of feedback that he achieves with his newest amp. And Tony asked in this thread, if other or even all Dumble ODS amps are able to provide a player with such a kind of feedback when a player should like and want this kind of feedback when performing.

What do you think concerning this question: Is the original #0183 and/or one or both of your two clones of #0183 (6l6 and EL34) able to provide a player with such a kind of feedback?

And if you should think so: Could you perhaps try to promote such a kind of feedback when playing one or both of your #0183 clones and demonstrate this in a clip posted here or in the "102 Feedback City" thread?

Thanks and all the best,

Max

Max,

Here is a clip of my Quinn #183/#102 SDO-Reverb (with a built in D-lator) demonstrating this "Harmonic Feedback":

It's in the beginning of the clip. Note that when I hold a note it blooms into harmonic Feedback. this feedback is apparent all over the fretboard with ease.

Greg, Thanks!

To avoid misunderstandings: Has this video clip been recorded by using the #0183 settings of this "hybrid" kind of amp or by using the #0102 settings of this amp?

Thanks again,

Max

Max,

It's on the #102setting (AKA the LNFB on the V1 preamp tube is in the "ON" position).
