Relays- Common ground?

Post by keithrick »

Hi All!

Well I am about to button up my ODS and have decided that I like the Mid boost so much that it needs to be on my footswitch.

I have my footswitch wired like #124. and both Ch and PAB switch work great with both Footswitch and consol switches.

My question is this...

Can I use a common ground from the footswitch jack to ground on the chassis (not from the relay)?

I currrently have a seperate run from the fooswitch to ground for the each of the two relays.

Note each relay has a seperate ground run to the footswitch jack and from the footswitch ground to the footswitch B+ ground.

The reason why I ask is because I currently have a 4 pin w/additional ground lug (5 lugs total) and am running out of wires.

Comments of very much appreciated! Thanks!

I just fired my HRM up yesterday for the first time and was thinking the same thing about the mid boost. Fortunately I built my amp with a spare relay on board. My first mod will be to put the mid boost on it.
good luck

Yeah, It's good to have the Midboost switchable. I recommend it! I use it more then the PAB boost for soloing. I use a Strat (mostly) with 124 values and it really fattens the tone up!

keithrick,
have you had a chance to record any clips with the #124?

Look I can.....but all I have is a Sony Digital 8 camcorder and or computer microphone. No fancy software/mics or chops for that matter.

Not to mention, I am not the best player. Did I mention I am not that good? After hearing everyones elses clips I am embarrased to post.

I have clips of all my amps Rocket, Express and ODS but they are all muddy through the camcorder. Not sure they would be much help.

I'll try again and see if I can come up with something for this weekend.

Please don't flame when they appear! LOL

Hey, no pressure. You just convinced me to hold off a tad with the iron. Glad to hear you're liking it.
