how much use are 1R bias current sensing resistors

Post by Joost »

I am adding four 1R 1% accurate bias current resistors to my 100W 124, but I am really wondering how accurate it will be in the end.

I mean, at these values, the wire and connections will add resistance and screw up my measurements so how much use are they really?

Or do I have this backwards?

Hi Joost,

why not us 0.5% or 1.0% 10 Ohm resistors?

Thus the tolerance of the resistors and resistance of the wires can be neglected. You only have to use the 200mV setting of your VM instead of the 2mV setting.

Cheers,

It does not matter if there is any other resistance. The current through the resistor will be the same in all cases (all resistive components will be in series). And you will be measuring the tension (voltage) acros the resistor and as the input resistance of the multimeter is very high, other resistive elements in your voltage measurement part (connectors etc) will have a very small influence.
