Dumble Head Cab W/D-Lator Plans
I did a pretty thorough search of the forum and I never did find plans for a Dumble clone head cab that would also fit a common D-Lator. Does anyone have one? I might just make my own cab. I've done furniture projects and other projects, but it makes sense to have a "plan".
Anyone?
Anyone?
Re: Dumble Head Cab W/D-Lator Plans
No plans as such, because for the most part it seems that either the 'lator gets integrated into the head's electronics (and chassis) or it gets stuck in the rack with the rest of the FX.
Extending a head cab to be 1.75 to 2" taller and adding 1U worth of rack rails at the bottom of the enclosure would seem a relatively clean way to go. The outside edges of the rails and slot should be 19.125" wide to clear the rack panel's tolerance stackup.
Hope this helps!

I saw this cab on the web quite a while ago.
Can't remember who made it or anything but I thought it was an interesting idea.
It has a 1U rack space on the bottom of the cab.

Height is the only issue. I had an extra front grill for my head cab and cut the C-lator into it for temporary use. It barely clears the tubes and if I need to change tubes the C-lator has to be removed to do so.

Donmoose,
It isn't a tough mod to add depth to the cab, but I didn't want to recreate the wheel if plans existed and had succeeded in the past. I won't be hauling a rack for a while, so I wanted to throw it in the cab...
Structo,
The integrated cab seems to be the way to go for where I'm at... That's exactly the design I'm talking about.
TWilcox,
Sweet rig!!! What are the dimensions on that cab?

Wow, you've got the absolute bomb!!! You just broached another future issue, trying a D-style amp with a 15" speaker.... Man, I would LOVE to hear that A/B'd with a 12" speaker. I could build that cab and wait on the speaker until I decided what my "primary" speaker would be. I'd then use an extension for the second when it was appropriate.
What speaker and effects do you have in that right now?
And yes, please PM me the dimensions!!!!

I tried 2 speakers in this one an EV 15 L Black label..Sounded good..The 2nd was a 15 Delta pro..
The D Pro was a bit darker w/ sweeter mids..I tried both oval back and closed and thought the closed back was much better for my 2nd generation amp loaded..
The effect I have in there now is a Yamaha SPX 900..I am not a big effects user but the 900 gives me a nice short room verb and sounds adequate for my needs I had it lying around..
The D-lator is built in to the amp but the cab can also support a 1U loop..
Right now I am out of town and don't have the dimensions on my computer..When I get back Monday I will send them to you!!
BTW..I tried both an EV 12L and the 15 and thought the 15 blew it away for me!!
All The Best!
